How to close (end) a live chat conversation in CornerSpot

When you've finished helping a visitor, you close the conversation to move it out of your open queue. Closing it marks the thread as Closed and the visitor can no longer message in that thread. This guide shows you how to close a conversation from the conversation view at /dashboard/chat/inbox/{conversationId}.

How to close a live chat conversation in CornerSpot

You can only close a conversation you own, so the first step is to claim it. Here's the full flow.

1. Open the conversation

From the Live Chat Inbox, open the conversation you want to wrap up. While it's open, the header shows the visitor, an Open status badge, and the conversation transcript.

2. Claim the conversation

If the conversation is still Unassigned, click Claim in the header. You must own a conversation before you can close it — and claiming also unlocks the reply box.

3. (Optional) Send a final reply and close in one step

If you still have a parting message to send, open the Send button's dropdown and choose Send and close. This sends your final reply and closes the conversation in a single step — handy for wrapping up with a polite sign-off.

4. Click “End Chat and Close”

When there's nothing left to send, click End Chat and Close in the conversation header (it appears while the conversation is open). That ends the chat and moves it to Closed.

5. The conversation is now closed

The status badge changes to Closed, and the footer reads “This conversation has been closed.” The visitor can no longer message in that thread, and it drops out of your open queue.

Two ways to close a conversation

  • End Chat and Close — the header button, available any time the conversation is open. Closes it without sending anything more.
  • Send and close — in the composer's Send dropdown. Sends your final reply and closes the conversation in one step.

What happens after closing

A closed conversation moves to the Closed status, the footer reads “This conversation has been closed.”, and the visitor can no longer send messages in that thread. You can still find it later by filtering the inbox by the Closed status.
