Once you’ve attached an e-signature contract to a deal, the deal’s form becomes the place you manage it. From the deal’s e-signature panel you can read the contract’s status at a glance, open the full envelope to review it, and — while it’s still a draft — remove it to unlink it from the deal. This guide shows you how.
Where the contract lives
Open the deal you want to work with and switch to its edit form. Below the deal’s tags you’ll find the Send a contract for an E-signature toggle. Turn it on to reveal the e-signature panel, where the linked contract is managed.

The e-signature panel groups everything in one place: the contract itself, the auto-send trigger stage, and the outcome stages the deal moves to once the contract is signed or falls through.

1. Read the contract’s status
When a contract is linked, it appears as a summary row labelled Envelope #id with a status badge. The badge tells you exactly where the contract stands:
- Draft — still being prepared; not yet sent.
- Sent — out for signature and waiting on recipients.
- Completed — everyone has signed.
- Declined, Voided, or Expired — the contract didn’t complete.
If you’ve set an auto-send stage, the row also reflects that the contract is armed to send when the deal reaches that stage — so the summary row is a quick read on the contract’s progress without leaving the deal.

2. Review the full envelope
To see the document itself — its recipients, fields, settings, and audit trail — click Review on the summary row. The full envelope opens in a new browser tab, so you keep your place on the deal. Reviewing is available for any linked contract that isn’t still in the transient, just-being-created state.
3. Remove (delete) a draft contract
If you attached the wrong template or no longer want a contract on this deal, you can remove it — but only while it’s still a draft. Click Delete on the summary row and confirm in the “Delete this envelope draft?” dialog (Delete envelope to confirm, Keep envelope to cancel).
Deleting the contract:
- Unlinks the envelope from the deal and permanently removes the draft.
- Brings back the template picker so you can choose a different contract.
- Preserves your other e-sign settings on the deal — the auto-send stage and the success/failure outcome stages stay configured.
Once a contract has been sent (or has reached any other status), the Delete button is disabled — “Only draft envelopes can be deleted from the deal.” To stop a contract that’s already out for signature, void it from the envelope instead.

Good to know
- Only managers and admins can arm or change a deal’s e-signature automation.
- The deal e-signature integration requires both the CRM and E-Signatures features on your plan.
- Reviewing opens the envelope in a new tab; removing only affects draft contracts.
