Tax rates and discounts in Cornerspot are reusable: you set them up once in your settings, and they show up in the pickers whenever you build an invoice. This guide walks you through creating both — a tax rate and a discount — from the Taxes and Discounts settings.
Where to manage tax rates and discounts
Open Account Settings and choose Taxes and Discounts. The hub has two tiles — Tax Rates and Discounts — that take you to the lists where you create and manage each.

Create a tax rate
1. Open Tax Rates and click “New Tax Rate”
From the hub, open Tax Rates (or go straight to Settings → Tax Rates). The list shows every rate you've set up; click New Tax Rate in the top-right to add one.

2. Fill in the rate
Give the rate a Name and a Rate (%). You can optionally add a Region (the country or region it applies to) and a Description. The Active toggle is on by default — leave it on so the rate is available when you build invoices.

3. Save it
Click Create Tax Rate. The panel closes and your new rate appears in the list, ready to apply.

Create a discount
4. Open Discounts and click “New Discount”
Switch to Discounts (the hub's other tile, or Settings → Discounts). Click New Discount to add one.

5. Fill in the discount
Give the discount a Name and choose a Discount Type: a Percentage (enter the Rate (%)) or a Fixed Amount (enter the Amount). As with tax rates, the Active toggle is on by default.

6. Save it
Click Create Discount. Your new discount joins the list and is ready to use.

How saved rates and discounts are used
The rates and discounts you save here are exactly what populate the + Add tax rate and + Add discount pickers when you build an invoice — both at the line-item level and across the whole invoice. You don't have to retype the same percentages every time; pick them from the list.
- Reuse everywhere: the same catalog of rates and discounts is available on invoices, subscriptions, and deals.
- Edit any time: use the Edit action on a row to update a rate's name, value, region, or description.
- Mark inactive instead of deleting: turning off the Active toggle removes a rate or discount from future selection without affecting invoices that already use it — your past records stay intact.
Tips
- Use clear names (for example, the region or purpose) so the right rate is easy to spot in the picker.
- Keep your list tidy by marking old rates and discounts inactive rather than deleting them.
- Need to apply these on an invoice? See the guide on applying taxes and discounts to an invoice.
