When a member can’t get into your portal — they’ve forgotten their password, or you simply need to set one for them — you can reset it for them in seconds from the Portal Users page. This guide shows you how to set a new portal password for a user.
How to reset a portal user’s password in Cornerspot
Resetting a portal user’s password takes just a few clicks from the Portal Users page — no need to ask the member to do anything first.
1. Find the user and click the edit icon
From the dashboard, open Members Portal in the left-hand menu, then choose Portal Users. Locate the person whose password you want to reset and click the pencil (Edit) icon in the Actions column of their row.

2. The Edit portal user panel opens
An Edit portal user panel slides in from the right, showing the user’s name, email, and phone. The new password is set from here.

3. Open the change-password section
Click Change user’s password to reveal the password fields. They stay hidden until you choose to set a new one, so you never change the password by accident.

4. Enter and confirm the new password
Type a new password — it must be at least 10 characters — then enter it a second time in the Confirm new password field so the two match.

5. Save
Click Save. The new password takes effect immediately, and the user can sign in to the portal with it right away.

What happens after you reset a password
- It’s effective immediately: The old password stops working and the new one is active as soon as you save.
- Only the password changes: The user’s account, memberships, and history all stay exactly as they were — you’re just setting new sign-in credentials.
- Share it securely: Cornerspot doesn’t email the new password automatically when you set it here, so pass it to the member through a secure channel and encourage them to change it after signing in.
Tips for managing portal sign-in
- Prefer an invitation when possible: If the member has never signed in, sending or resending an invitation lets them set their own password instead — use a manual reset when you need to set one for them directly.
- Use a strong, unique password of at least 10 characters, and never reuse one across members.
- If you suspect an account has been compromised, you can also suspend or revoke a user’s access from the same Portal Users page.
